If it's solid silver, I think she/he will be fine. Source(s): Lissa · 9 years ago 0 Thumbs up 4 Thumbs down Report Abuse Comment Add a comment

Submit · just now I guess I would hold off on buying such expensive teething rings and see if there was something a little more practical she still needs for baby, unless of course you and her are both in a position where money is not an issue. Babies can are very expensive and it seems a little silly to spend so much on something you can buy for $5 that will do the same job. Plus, why risk it when there are so many other things she could use for baby? Cheryl · 1 year ago 0 Thumbs up 0 Thumbs down Report Abuse Comment Add a comment

Submit · just now They've been using silver in teeth fillings for decades so it can't be all that bad. But just because they made it for babies doesn't make it safe either. I would think it would be too hard and they might chip their teeth on it. More of a novelty keepsake item I think, rather than an actual teether. Stick to the ones recommended for teething. Submit · just now I've never heard about silver being bad for babies... Huh? We got some silver trinkets, too, and it's not like anybody would reasonably be expected to take silver cutlery and have it solely for decorative use.

Silver teethers are not uncommon and I've never heard of anybody thinking of them as dangerous. Or of silver in general as dangerous.

"The anti-microbal properties of silver were known to the Ancient Greeks and Romans as well as to my grandfather. All used silver vessels or dressings to keep water fresh and wounds free from infection. In medieval Britain, as in Ancient Egypt and China, it was believed that one reason why the rich were less likely to suffer from the plague was silver cutlery. In Georgian and Victorian medicine throughout the empire silver preparations were used to keep wounds healed and water pure. In my youth my grandfather dispensed a silver-based ointment to treat minor wounds."

Submit · just now I wouldn't let my baby chew on it, I think it is more a "decorative item", something they can pass down to their kiddos. I don't know about the silver, but it just doesn't seem like they should be chewing on any kind of metal (plastic has enough bad things in it)! newmommy · 9 years ago 4 Thumbs up 0 Thumbs down Report Abuse Comment Add a comment

Submit · just now i think ts to keep, i wouldnt let my baby chew on silver. although i can see why it would be good as it is hard and cold. senays mummy · 9 years ago 0 Thumbs up 0 Thumbs down Report Abuse Comment Add a comment

Submit · just now it's probably more of a keepsake. i would say even if it isnt unsafe its probably hard and not great for developing teeth. teethers are usually soft and pliable. tcb · 9 years ago 6 Thumbs up 0 Thumbs down Report Abuse Comment Add a comment

Submit · just now It made for a baby keepsake, not for real use. Put it in a curio, shelf in your babies room. radbagm3 · 9 years ago 4 Thumbs up 0 Thumbs down Report Abuse Comment Add a comment
